Were St. Francis of Assisi to be asked the way to inner peace, he like Bishop Sheen, would have undoubtedly pointed to the way of the cross. Humility, love, and service would have been the virtues recommended to pave the way and make the going easier. Sorrow for sins, patience with others, and a healthy sense of humor would be considered almost equally important. In this work, written some fifty years ago, we find many nearly forgotten age-old truths surprisingly and specifically apropos to the needs of our own times. Rich in psychology and richer yet in New Testament spirituality, these pages will provide an invaluable guide to all those who, for whatever reason, are seeking the way to inner peace.
About the Author: Bishop Fulton J. Sheen (1895-1979) taught, preached, wrote, informed, and inspired millions of people during his full and active life. His success stemmed from a combination of deep intellectual knowledge and a profound spirituality formed before the Blessed Sacrament where he spent at least an hour each day in quiet prayer. Steeped in the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, he was gifted with an ability to reach people of all religious backgrounds. He was a pioneer in the use of the mass media, especially television, to convey the truths of the Gospel. People responded to the certainty of his convictions and the authenticity of his love and concern for them. When he died at the age of 84 he was widely mourned.

"We should be grateful to Alba House for reprinting a classic by a great churchman that had gone out of print. What the man wrote some 50 years ago is every bit as fresh and insightful as it was then. A marvelous combination of good psychology and good theology." --Catholic Answers
