Aids to managing the effects of the loss of a loved one rather than to allow the loss to manage you are not wanting. Most tend to require too much reading when you are too distraught to focus for more than a few moments. Others are often too technical to be of much use, going into greater detail about the physical, psychological and emotional aspects of bereavement than most of us are interested in or need to know. The six simple steps in this little booklet and the prayer exercises which follow take all of this into consideration as the author compassionately leads you to consider various things you can do to help you get through this crisis in your life. The steps outlined here are not hard and fast rules. People go through the various stages of grief in ways that differ from person to person. The steps are merely a suggested framework to assist you according to your own needs, imagination and creativity. The prayer guide in Part II provides healing resources that come from religious faith. In praying them, you are led through your own Good Friday to Easter and are helped to convert your hour of grief into a time of grace. Support groups as well as individuals will find much to assist them here. Space is provided for taking notes or keeping a journal.

"Six Steps for Managing Loss: A Catholic Guide Through Grief -- by Boston Archdiocese pastor and adjunct staff member of Boston's Family Life Office, Fr. Terence P. Curley -- is a 64-page booklet which aims to offer a framework that is respectful of the individuality involved in grieving the loss of a loved one. It cuts through much of the heavier guides on the market (keyed to psychology, physical and emotional reactions, etc.) and offers 6 basic steps in simple language, some with examples of actual case histories, followed by practical ideas to tap into each step. Part II offers prayer experiences based on religious faith as a deeply helpful resource. It has room for notes or a small personal journal as well." --Crux of the News
